Did you know that there were at least four prototypes of Darkley the Lil Emo Girl before we settled on her current look? |
I sketched quite a number of different Lil Emo Girls before settling on one form of Darkley. I wanted to try a different type of animation, so I sculpted a few Darkley's hoping to do some cool claymation. But if you've ever tried to do stop motion you'll know what I mean when I say I just didn't have that much patience. But from the Clay versions I was better able to understand Darkley's proper dimensions. So when I went back to 3D she turned out like what you see today. We actually use two types of animation for Darkley's episodes. Half are 3D Mo Cap and the other half is 2D animation much like what you see on Cartoon Network. The difference is we use some tricks just like the Japanese anime and hope that the animation styles are seemless. Well I hope you like what you're seeing so far. Cheers Penny |
